Persona Story:
Martin of Rivenstar was born in 1050 AD in Normandy to a minor landholding noble. He grew quickly to an abnormally tall stature and was drawn into martial games very early. When the call went out to join William the Bastard's little jaunt to England, Martin lept at the chance, and went to war for the Duke. After the tremendous successes of 1066, Martin stayed in England for many years enforcing the king's will and suppressing the Saxons. In 1085, consumed by a brief disgust for the crushing of the proud Saxons, Martin travelled by ship to a small holdfast in Denmark called Rivenstar, where he was taken into the household of the great Lord Moonwulf Starkhaaderson. After 12 long years of service to the Danes, and to his Duke, Martin returned to Normandy to find his brothers preparing to follow the priests to free the Holy Land. Late in life and full of a renewed religious vigor, and a need to atone for the decades of atrocities on the Saxons, Martin joined his brothers in the great Crusade, to go kill Turks and Arabs. Years later, in 1109, all his brothers dead or returned home, and alone in Byzantium, Martin died of a mysterious lung ailment.
